How to (re)connect two factor authentication for Salesforce

There are two methods for adding 2-factor authentication for Salesforce - Salesforce Authenticator and TOTP (time-based one time passcode).  If you don't have 2FA set up for Salesforce currently, you will get the following prompt:

Salesforce Authenticator

1. Start by logging in to Salesforce.

2. If you're trying to move the Authenticator to a new device, it'll confirm your two-factor authentication; otherwise, it will force you to install 2FA when you first log in.

3. Click on your photo / avatar in the top-right corner of the web page, and then select "Settings".

4. Once in settings, click "Advanced User Details" in the menu on the top left.

6. After clicking Disconnect, immediately click Connect again.

7. Open the Salesforce Authenticator on your mobile device, and then click "Add an account". It will give you a two-word phrase - type it into this prompt and hit Connect on your computer, and then Connect on your mobile device, and you should be set :-D

  
Time-based One Time Passcodes  

1. Click on the Settings link.

3. and immediately click the Connect button to re-configure it.

4. This will cause Salesforce to email you a one-time passcode. Go into your email, grab it, and enter it here.

5. This will then give you a QR code. Use whatever app you want (Google Authenticator, Authy, Microsoft Authenticator, or even 1Password. The rest of these directions will show you how to use 1Password for this.

6. Click on your 1Password browser extension.

7. Click on your Salesforce entry in 1Password...

8. and then click on the three dots on the top right of the entry.

9. This will bring up a menu - choose the "Scan QR code" option, and it will automatically grab the QR code from the web site...
